US supplies Iranian small arms to Ukraine

The United States has handed over to Ukraine more than 5,000 AK-47 assault rifles, machine guns, sniper rifles, and RPG-7 anti-tank grenade launchers seized during the inspection of ships delivering cargoes from Iran to Yemeni Houthis.

Caliber.Az reports, citing a tweet by the US Central Command of the Armed Forces (CENTCOM).

The transfer was carried out on April 4. The Ukrainian armed forces also received more than half a million rounds of ammunition of 7.62 mm caliber.

As the command says, these small arms are enough to equip one brigade of the Ukrainian army. During the operation, which took place from May 2021 to February 2023, a total of four cargo ships traveling to Yemen with these small arms were detained, the report adds.
