Working Group members discussing environmental issues in Azerbaijan’s Zangilan

The environmental issues are being discussed in Azerbaijan’s Zangilan district.

A meeting of the Working Group on environmental issues of the Interdepartmental Centre, operating under the Coordination Headquarters for addressing the issues in the liberated Azerbaijani territories, is being held in the Zangilan district, Report’s journalist informs from Zangilan.

The meeting is being held at the Zangilan Convention Centre.

Azerbaijani Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Vugar Karimov, Special Representative of the Azerbaijani President in Jabrayil, Gubadli and Zangilan districts which are included in East Zangezur economic region Vahid Hajiyev, Senior Advisor to the Special Representative of the Azerbaijani President in the Gubadli, Jabrayil and Zangilan districts, members of the East Zangezur economic region, member of the working group on environmental issues Nargiz Garajayeva and others attended the working group meeting.

The participants are discussing the issues of restoration of qanat (a system for transporting water from an aquifer or water well to the surface, through an underground aqueduct) in the Jabrayil district, assessment of environmental factors of socio-economic development of the East Zangezur economic region, the work carried out in forestry in the territories liberated from occupation within the Azerbaijani-Turkish cooperation.

The environmental sustainability in the implementation of restoration projects and construction in the Gubadli, Jabrayil and Zangilan districts included in the East Zangezur economic region, management of solid household waste in the territories liberated from occupation, restoration and reconstruction of the hydrometeorological observation network are being discussed at the meeting.

The water supply systems of the Zangilan and Jabrayil districts, road construction projects in the East Zangezur economic region, the prospects for the use of existing mineral deposits in the territory, the process of restoring the ecology in the territories liberated from occupation and other issues are also being discussed.
