Azerbaijan first among CIS countries to host Air Navigation Summit

A historically important event for Azerbaijan's civil aviation will take place in June 2024 - the country will host the next World Summit on Air Navigation and the 28th Annual General Meeting of CANSO.

It was announced at the CANSO summit in Berlin, Caliber.Az reports.

CANSO is an international organization of providers of air navigation services. Today the organization has over 180 members, including Azerbaijan, which has become a member since 2005.

Azerbaijan is the first country in the history of the CIS and many other countries in the region to receive approval from the CANSO Executive Committee to hold the event. Previously, the Summit was held in such cities as Dublin, Vancouver, Copenhagen, Bangkok, and Geneva.

CANSO's decision to entrust the international summit to Baku is a vivid example of Azerbaijan's achievements and authority in the field of air navigation.

In a meeting with AZAL representatives CANSO Director General Simon Hocquard noted that Azerbaijan has all opportunities to hold the World Summit on Air Navigation at a high level.

Within the framework of the summit in Baku, more than 350 leaders from the field of civil aviation, representing 150 countries are expected to participate. They will gather to discuss the most pressing issues of air transport optimization and cooperation in creating a safe and sustainable global air transport chain.

The CANSO Summit is one of the most significant events in international aviation. The CANSO World Air Navigation Summit annually brings together world leaders and senior executives from across the civil aviation industry, as well as representatives of international organizations such as ICAO, EUROCONTROL, and IATA.

CANSO covers more than 85% of global air traffic and brings together air navigation service providers, regulatory and executive aviation authorities from around the world, as well as industry leaders in the aviation industry.
