Armenian PM sounds three principles for signing peace deal with Azerbaijan
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has voiced three principles while delivering a speech in the parliament.
“If these principles are observed, Yerevan will sign a peace agreement with Baku,” Pashinyan noted, TASS reports.
“First, Armenia and Azerbaijan must recognise each other’s territorial integrity - the territory of Armenia is 29,800 square metres while the territory of Azerbaijan - 86,600 square metres. The Alma-Ata Declaration [as of 1991 on the creation of the CIS] should become the political basis for the delimitation and then demarcation of borders. The regional routes will be opened on the principles of sovereignty, jurisdiction, legislation, equality and reciprocity of countries. If Azerbaijan confirms its commitment to these principles, the signing of a peace treaty is a matter of the foreseeable future,” he said.
