Azerbaijani Separate Combined Arms Army holds computer-supported command-staff exercises PHOTO/VIDEO

According to the "Combat Training Plan of the Separate Combined Arms Army for 2023", computer-supported command and staff exercises were conducted on the ground and in the Simulation Centre with subordinate formations and units of the Azerbaijani Army.

Azerbaijani Defence Ministry told Caliber.Az that at the first stage, the units were put on various degrees of combat readiness and, at the signal "Alarm", were withdrawn to the areas of the exercises.

In accordance with the task set by the high command, in the deployed field and stationary battle control centres, planning of operations was started and appropriate measures were taken to make the best decision.

A reconnaissance of the terrain of the operations planned by the headquarters was carried out, the centres of gravity of their own and enemy units as well as the boundaries were determined, and various scenarios were prepared to achieve the desired result. The prepared scenarios were practised during war games.

The delivery of orders, the transmission of information on operational plans prepared by military units, as well as data on the management of units and the destruction of detected aerial targets by means of modern technical means were practised.

In the course of the exercise, special-purpose units carried out visual observation and aerial reconnaissance, assessing the combat positions and important facilities of the conditional enemy in the immediate depths. The intelligence received was analysed and transmitted to headquarters to enable the units to move swiftly and accurately to the target on the battlefield.

According to the combat order, the tank and mechanised units carried out the task of attacking the area of the conditional enemy's location. The main emphasis was placed on capturing the dominant heights from which the supply routes and the directions of approach of the enemy's reserves could be seen.

In the second stage of the exercise in the Simulation Centre, the decisions taken by the staff were worked out on computers in order to see the feasibility of the decisions taken on the ground, to test the commanders' ability to manage the units on the battlefield, to make sure of the effective use of fire support equipment and the organisation of comprehensive support at all stages of the battle.

At the end of the exercise, which achieved all its objectives, the readiness of the headquarters to prepare troops for combat and plan operations was highly appreciated.
