Georgia's ruling party hails friendship with Azerbaijan as strategically important

Chairman of Georgia's ruling Georgian Dream Party Irakli Kobakhidze has said that the friendship with Azerbaijan is of strategic importance for us.

He said that Georgia's integration into Europe is important for Azerbaijan as well, APA reports.

“It is very good that the president of a country friendly to us, Ilham Aliyev, views our integration into Europe from this point of view. Our progress towards European integration is also important for our friend and neighbour Azerbaijan, and the statement of President Ilham Aliyev is very interesting and important,” Kobakhidze said.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Committee on European Integration of the Georgian Parliament, Maka Bochorishvili said that the relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia have repeatedly proven successful cooperation between neighbouring countries.

Bochorishvili made the remarks while commenting on the statements of President Ilham Aliyev about Georgia at a conference held on December 6 at the ADA University, APA reports, citing the PirveliArxi TV channel.

She said that relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia are important not only in the regional context, but also from the point of view of relations with the European Union.

“The cooperation of these two countries is important from the point of view of the implementation of projects that imply a physical connection between Georgia and the European Union. In this process, there must be strong unity between neighbouring countries based on a common strategy. We welcome such messages from a country that is an important neighbour for us,” said the committee chairman.
