Azerbaijani MoD exposes Armenian disinformation campaign on Lachin incident

The Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence has accused certain social media channels associated with Armenian government bodies of disseminating unprofessionally edited disinformation.

“Some social media channels related to Armenian government bodies have disseminated unprofessionally edited disinformation video about the incident that allegedly occurred this [on February 28] morning in the Lachin direction,” Caliber.Az reports, citing the recent report of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence.

“As a result of the analysis of the metadata of the mentioned video and a short investigation, it was determined that the video footage was recorded at a completely different time and in a different geographical area and has no relevance to today’s [February 28] incident,” the report added.

On the morning of February 28, a soldier of the Azerbaijan Army, Panahov Ruslan Eldaniz, due to unfavourable weather conditions became disoriented and got lost while moving between service positions in the territory of the Lachin region.

The immediate search activities to find the serviceman are being continued.

The public will be provided with additional information about the incident.
