Türkiye launches trials of new Boyga UAV VIDEO
In line with the goals of Türkiye's fully independent defence industry, another product resulting from projects carried out under the coordination of the Defense Industry Authority has been delivered to security forces.
Developed by STM, the Boyga UAV has joined the arsenal of the Turkish Armed Forces after successfully completing acceptance tests.
President of Turkish Defence Industries Ismail Demir made the announcement on Twitter, Caliber.Az reports.
"We have added another capability to the arsenal that will give soldiers a big advantage on the battlefield. The Boyga UAV can drop 81mm ammunition, which we developed using national resources. The new Turkish UAV has successfully passed acceptance tests and has been delivered to our security services," Demir said.
Boyga, the newest member of the STM product family is a tactical mini UAV that drops the embedded 81mm mortar ammunition produced by Makina ve Kimya Endüstrisi AŞ, on target with an accurate hit due to an improved ballistic evaluation algorithm.
The Boyga UAV can be used effectively in counterterrorism and asymmetric warfare environments and has a 30-minute flight time with mortar ammunition at a range of 5 kilometers. The Boyga, which can reach a flight altitude of 1,500 meters, is carried by military personnel and weighs 15 kilograms.
