Azerbaijan border guards seize large drug shipment from Iran

Azerbaijani border guards have intercepted a significant consignment of narcotics smuggled from Iran, authorities said.

On May 22, units of the “Goytepe” border detachment stopped an attempted drug smuggling operation along the southern frontier, the State Border Service said, Caliber.Az reports.

Officials said a total of 35.2 kg of marijuana and 3,000 tablets of methadone (M-40) were discovered and seized during operational measures.

The State Border Service said investigations are continuing, and further operational-search activities are underway to identify those involved.
