Azerbaijan holds flash mob timed to Great Return of people to native lands
The Azerbaijani State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons held a flash mob dedicated to the Great Return of people to the territories liberated from Armenian occupation.
The event featured returning individuals and those preparing to go back to their homeland—former internally displaced people, the committee told Caliber.Az.
Some 2,263 families, totaling 8,660 people, have returned to their ancestral lands as part of the Great Return initiative.
The "Great Return" programme aims to facilitate the resettlement and reconstruction of areas affected by conflict. As part of the programme, three urban centres, five settlements, and 24 villages are planned for development in Jabrayil, Gubadli, and Zangilan districts.
The first phase of the programme, spanning from 2022 to 2026, is expected to enable more than 41,000 former internally displaced people (IDPs) to return to their ancestral lands.
