Azerbaijan invites Ursula von der Leyen to COP29

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has been invited to the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) to be held in Baku.

APA reports, citing Vaqif Sadiqov, Azerbaijan's ambassador to Belgium and head of mission to the European Union (EU).

“I express my deep gratitude to Mr Fernando Andresen-Gimarayes, Diplomatic Advisor to the President of the European Commission, for the thorough exchange of views on the present and future of EU-Azerbaijan relations. This meeting was also a good opportunity to hand over to the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen the invitation letter to COP29 from President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev,” the diplomat said.
