Western Azerbaijan Community urges global support for return of Azerbaijanis expelled from Armenia
On the anniversary of the decisive anti-terrorist operation that led to the defeat of the separatist regime and the full restoration of Azerbaijan’s sovereignty, the Western Azerbaijan Community has called for international support in a recent statement.
“Today marks one year since the successful conclusion of anti-terrorist operations in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan. This operation ended over thirty years of injustice, reinstated the rule of law, and fully reasserted Azerbaijan's sovereignty,” stated the Western Azerbaijan Community, per Caliber.Az.
The statement continued, “Azerbaijan's actions were not only in its national interest but also upheld the principles of international law. Amid global turmoil, justice has triumphed. However, certain external forces are attempting to portray this victory negatively and rekindle tensions. We demand that these forces respect international law and not obstruct the path to enduring peace in the region. We urge the global community to support the return of Azerbaijanis expelled from Armenia to their ancestral homeland, ensuring that this challenging chapter of history is closed with dignity.”
Established in 1989 initially as the Azerbaijan Refugee Society and later rebranded as the Western Azerbaijan Community, the organization is committed to advocating for the rights of Azerbaijanis displaced from modern-day Armenia. Its mission extends beyond advocating for their return; it also focuses on consolidating efforts to protect the rights, development, and security of Azerbaijanis in the region.
