Victims testify at Baku Military Court in case on Armenian aggression, Khojaly genocide
The Baku Military Court continued its hearings today with testimonies from victims affected by the occupation of Azerbaijani territories by Armenian armed forces.
The court session focused on accounts of war crimes, crimes against humanity, and atrocities committed during Armenia’s military aggression, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
One of the victims, Vugar Eminov, recounted being captured on April 25, 1994, in the village of Gulluca, Aghdam district. He described his captivity in the Shusha prison and a special detention centre in Khankendi, where he and other Azerbaijani prisoners of war endured severe torture, including beatings with metal rods and electric shocks. Eminov detailed his forced labour in the village of Aghbulag, Khojavend district, from which he escaped with fellow prisoners in October 1995 and later reached Azerbaijani-controlled territory.
Another witness, Imran Guliyev, shared harrowing memories of the Khojaly genocide that took place on the night of February 25-26, 1992. Guliyev described how Armenian forces attacked Khojaly with heavy armoured vehicles and firearms, setting the town ablaze. He mourned the loss of his brother Zakir and sister Zohra, who were killed during the assault. Guliyev was unable to retrieve his sister’s body immediately and only managed to recover it three days later. His brother remains missing to this day. Guliyev himself was injured in the attack.
The ongoing trial addresses multiple charges against Armenian citizens, including war crimes, genocide, crimes against peace and humanity, terrorism, and other offences resulting from Armenia’s military aggression. The court continues to examine evidence and hear testimonies from victims and witnesses as part of efforts to bring justice for the victims of the conflict.
