Austria appoints Etienne Berchtold as new ambassador to Azerbaijan PHOTO

Austria has appointed Etienne Berchtold as its new ambassador to Azerbaijan, where he is expected to assume his duties at the end of August, the Austrian embassy has stated.

It said before his appointment, Berchtold had served as Austria's ambassador to the United Arab Emirates since August 2022, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

He previously worked at the Austrian Federal Chancellery as press secretary for foreign and European policy to Federal Chancellors Karl Nehammer, Alexander Schallenberg and Sebastian Kurz.

Berchtold is a lawyer by training.
