Kazakhstan’s Tokayev сalls for Ukraine сeasefire during meeting with Putin

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev arrived in the Russian city of Omsk on July 25 to attend the 22nd Russian-Kazakh Forum on Interregional Cooperation, where he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin and called for a ceasefire in the war in Ukraine.

Tokayev was welcomed at Omsk International Airport by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk, Omsk region governor Vitaly Khotsenko, and other Russian officials ahead of the forum, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media. 

During bilateral talks with Putin, the Kazakh leader urged an end to hostilities and a return to negotiations.

“Perhaps it is time to freeze this conflict and return to the Istanbul Formula 2.0, since significant results were achieved there,” Tokayev said, referring to a renewed framework for peace talks based on earlier negotiations held in Istanbul.
