Three rescued from rubble nearly month after Venezuela earthquake

Three people—a man, a woman and a young girl—have been rescued alive after spending 28 days trapped beneath the rubble following devastating earthquakes in Venezuela, according to Venezuelan media.

The three had become trapped inside a room where they unexpectedly found supplies of food and water, enabling them to survive for nearly a month beneath the collapsed structure, Caliber.Az reports.

They received immediate medical and psychological assistance after being rescued.

Meanwhile, the confirmed death toll from the earthquakes continues to rise. As of July 24, rescue teams had recovered nearly 5,500 bodies from the rubble.

Authorities said more than 10,000 people remain missing, indicating that the number of fatalities is likely to increase further.

Two powerful earthquakes measuring magnitudes 7.2 and 7.5 struck northern Venezuela on June 24.
