Presidential aide: Azerbaijani media ready to go on offensive when needed
Azerbaijani media will further strengthen the positions they have gained in the global information space and, while remaining committed to professional principles, will spare no effort to promote patriotism, national solidarity, and protect national interests.
Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmet Hajiyev made the remarks in a post on his X account on the occasion of July 22 — National Press Day, Caliber.Az reports.
He noted that Azerbaijani society is marking another anniversary of the country’s national press.
“The history of the development of our press, founded on July 22, 1875 by the great enlightener Hasan bey Zardabi, is a vivid example of true patriotism, devotion to the ideas of statehood and an unwavering struggle for national progress.
Starting from the mid-1990s, thanks to the media policy pursued under the leadership of the national leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev, a reliable foundation was created in our country for the formation and development of strong and professional media outlets, alongside ensuring freedom of speech, information and pluralism of opinion.
In the subsequent period, the successful continuation of the policy laid down by the national leader, as well as consistent reforms in this field, ensured the development of our media in line with modern challenges and expanded their influence in the global information space,” Hajiyev said.
The presidential aide added that during the 44-day Patriotic War, Azerbaijani media demonstrated an example of patriotism and unity, playing an important role in conveying Azerbaijan’s truth to the international community and exposing information provocations against the country.
Quoting President Ilham Aliyev’s assessment of Azerbaijani media, Hajiyev wrote: “Today our media have gained tremendous authority not only inside the country, but also internationally, and I say this absolutely sincerely… Today Azerbaijani media are capable of defending state interests. They have achieved great success in exposing unfounded accusations against Azerbaijan based on arguments, serious analysis and facts. Our media not only defend state interests, but when necessary, they go on the offensive.”
