Azerbaijan, Pakistan reaffirm cooperation in field of justice

21 July 2026 20:07

Azerbaijan and Pakistan have reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation in the field of justice as part of a meeting between Azerbaijani Constitutional Court Chairman Farhad Abdullayev and a delegation led by Pakistan's Minister of State for Law and Justice, Aqeel Malik.

Welcoming the delegation, Abdullayev said the strategic partnership and friendly relations between the two countries are built on mutual trust, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

He noted that Pakistan was among the first countries to recognise Azerbaijan's independence and that the two nations continue to support each other on international platforms.

Abdullayev also briefed the delegation on the Constitutional Court's activities, its decision-making process and the role of the judiciary in protecting human rights and freedoms.

He stressed the importance of strengthening professional dialogue and exchanging experience between constitutional courts.

For his part, Malik underlined the need to expand cooperation in the judicial and legal sphere, praised the legal reforms being carried out in Azerbaijan and expressed confidence that reciprocal visits and exchanges of experience would further strengthen bilateral cooperation.

The sides also discussed modern legal approaches in judicial practice, the protection of human rights, digitalisation, the use of artificial intelligence in the judicial system and prospects for international legal cooperation.
