Ukrainian envoy, UN coordinator discuss support for Kyiv
Ukrainian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Yuriy Husyev has met with the UN's newly appointed Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan, Dmitry Shlapachenko, to discuss support for Ukraine, humanitarian issues and prospects for bilateral cooperation.
In a statement on Facebook, he said during the meeting, the sides exchanged views on current international challenges, the UN's role in promoting peace and sustainable development, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
According to him, they also discussed opportunities to deepen cooperation between the team of the Ukrainian Embassy in Baku and the UN Resident Coordinator's Office in Azerbaijan.
He made it clear that particular attention was paid to support for Ukraine amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, humanitarian needs, demining efforts and the reconstruction of affected regions, as well as the importance of upholding the principles of the UN Charter and international law.
"The sides agreed to maintain a regular dialogue and work jointly on initiatives aimed at strengthening international security and achieving a just and lasting peace," the statement noted.
Husyev also wished Shlapachenko success in his new role and expressed hope for productive cooperation.
