Azerbaijani, UAE leaders discuss strategic, economic ties
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev met and President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan exchanged views on bilateral relations and discussed successful cooperation in the energy sector, including renewable energy during a high-level meeting in Abu Dhabi on July 9.
During the meeting, the two leaders emphasised that relations between Azerbaijan and the UAE are based on friendship and brotherhood and are of a strategic partnership nature. They noted the high level of political ties and the development of trade and economic cooperation, Caliber.Az reports per the Azerbaijani president’s official website.
Satisfaction was expressed regarding joint efforts between SOCAR and ADNOC, as well as Azerbaijan’s cooperation with the Masdar company.
They also discussed promising projects in the renewable energy field and highlighted the importance of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) summit in Khankendi, noting the UAE’s high-level representation at the event.
The leaders recalled with satisfaction President Ilham Aliyev’s visit to the UAE in January and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s visit to Azerbaijan, pointing out that both visits included extensive discussions on various aspects of the bilateral agenda.
Following the talks, a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement was signed between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the United Arab Emirates in the presence of the presidents.
At the conclusion of the meeting, President Aliyev presented a commemorative gift to Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
