Azerbaijan, Pakistan strengthen legal ties with new cooperation program PHOTO
A high-level Pakistani delegation led by Azam Nazeer Tarar, Federal Minister for Law and Justice, is on an official visit to Azerbaijan to bolster bilateral cooperation in the legal sector.
As part of the visit, the delegation paid respects at the Alley of Honors, laying a wreath at the tomb of National Leader Heydar Aliyev. The delegation also visited the Alley of Martyrs, Victory Park, and the Victory Monument to honor those who sacrificed their lives for Azerbaijan’s independence and territorial integrity, Caliber.Az reports via Azertag.
The visit included a meeting between Azerbaijan’s Minister of Justice, Farid Ahmadov, and his Pakistani counterpart. The two sides praised the existing strong cooperation between Azerbaijan and Pakistan in the legal sphere and noted the successful development of bilateral relations across political, economic, trade, and other domains.
During the meeting, the importance of the “Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry for Law and Justice of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan,” signed during President Ilham Aliyev’s state visit to Pakistan in July 2024, was emphasized.
To advance the goals outlined in the memorandum, the two ministers signed a non-legally binding “Cooperation Program.” The program includes collaboration on digital justice initiatives, the use of artificial intelligence in judicial systems, legal research, legislative development, alternative dispute resolution, and joint training and education efforts.
The parties also agreed to draft an Action Plan to guide the implementation of the newly signed program.
Both ministers hailed the strategic partnership between their countries, underscoring the value of reciprocal visits and sustained dialogue in enhancing legal and judicial cooperation. The meeting concluded with discussions on future areas of collaboration and other issues of mutual interest.
