Azerbaijan’s new ambassador to Serbia visits memorials in Belgrade PHOTO

Azerbaijan’s newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Serbia, Tahir Taghi-Zadeh, visited several monuments in Belgrade on September 14 following the presentation of his credentials to Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić.

Taghi-Zadeh, accompanied by Azerbaijan’s Military Attaché Elmaddin Hasanov and embassy staff, first visited the monument to Azerbaijan’s National Leader Heydar Aliyev in Tašmajdan Park. The delegation laid flowers at the monument, Caliber.Az reports per local media.

The Azerbaijani officials also paid tribute to prominent Serbian writer Milorad Pavić by visiting his monument in the park and laid flowers at the “We Were Just Children” memorial, which commemorates children killed during the 1999 NATO bombing of Belgrade.

Earlier in the day, Taghi-Zadeh formally presented his credentials to President Vučić at the Palace of Serbia, marking the start of his diplomatic mission in the country.

Taghi-Zadeh previously served as Azerbaijan’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Hungary.
