Azerbaijan’s top Muslim cleric calls for separate meeting on AI, Sharia law

14 September 2026 11:39

Questions surrounding artificial intelligence and Sharia law require a separate meeting of Muslim religious scholars, Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Office (CMO) Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazada said in Baku.

Speaking at the seventh Meeting of Muslim Religious Leaders of the Organisation of Turkic States (OTS), Pashazada said the issue of artificial intelligence in the context of Sharia law deserved detailed and separate consideration, Caliber.Az reports via local media

“Believers are waiting for our opinions on this topic,” Pashazada said.

The head of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kazakhstan, Nauryzbay Taganuly, also stressed the importance of ensuring that information obtained through artificial intelligence is used correctly and that young people are guided appropriately.

“We can show the right path to our youth and society by delivering accurate information to them,” he said.
