Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia have held high-level talks to enhance cooperation in the fields of defence, military technology, and military education, as part of an official visit by an Azerbaijani military delegation to the Kingdom on July 8.
The sides conducted an in-depth exchange of views on strengthening collaboration between their armed forces, with discussions covering a broad range of areas including joint training, military-technical partnerships, and education, Caliber.Az reports, citing Defence Minsitry.
The Azerbaijani delegation was led by Colonel General Karim Valiyev, First Deputy Minister of Defence and Chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijan Army. He met with his Saudi counterpart, General Fayyad bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili, Chief of the General Staff of the Saudi Armed Forces.
Prior to the meeting, an official welcoming ceremony was held at the Kingdom’s General Staff headquarters. The ceremony featured a guard of honour, the playing of both national anthems, and the signing of the Book of Honor.
An expanded session followed, involving both delegations, during which the two sides discussed prospects for deepening ties between their respective military institutions.
