Türkiye commemorates anniversary of Azerbaijan's anti-terrorism operations in Karabakh

19 September 2024 14:47

Turkish TV channel Haber Global has aired a report marking the anniversary of Azerbaijan's anti-terrorism operations in Karabakh.

The report highlights how these decisive actions have reinforced Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and sovereignty, Caliber.Az reports.

The TV channel references the significant Victory Parade held in Khankandi last November, which was portrayed as a historic testament to the strength and resilience of Azerbaijan's armed forces. It underscores the necessity of the anti-terror measures, attributing them to multiple provocations from Armenia.

Key points include Armenia's failure to withdraw troops or demilitarize the region as mandated by the trilateral statement signed on November 10, 2020. Instead, Armenia reportedly supplied weapons and military equipment to local forces, constructed fortifications, and escalated the activities of reconnaissance and sabotage units, including the mining of roads.

Further provocations from Armenia included a congratulatory letter sent by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on September 2, 2023, to the separatist regime on the “declaration of independence of Nagorno-Karabakh”, and the conduct of the so-called presidential elections in Karabakh on September 9.

These actions signalled an intent to engage in more extensive military provocations, thereby necessitating a response from Azerbaijan. Consequently, local anti-terrorism measures commenced on September 19.
