Colonel: Azerbaijani army compelled separatists to capitulate within 23 hours
Chief of the Department for Ideological Work and Moral-Psychological Support of Azerbaijan's Defence Ministry, Col. Elshab Abilov, has said that Azerbaijani troops forced Armenian separatists to capitulate within 23 hours during anti-terror operations on September 19-20, 2023.
He made the remarks addressing a ceremony commemorating the martyrs at the Second Alley of Martyrs on the first anniversary of the anti-terrorist operations.
Participant of the 44-day second Karabakh war, Abilov, highlighted that the aim of the anti-terrorist operations conducted on September 19-20, 2023, was to expel separatist forces from the Karabakh region, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The operations also aimed to ensure compliance with the provisions of the tripartite agreement of November 10.
Abilov honoured the martyrs and extended condolences to their families on behalf of Azerbaijani Defence Minister Zakir Hasanov.
On September 19, 2023, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces launched a one-day local anti-terror operation to remove illegal Armenian armed formations and their military infrastructure in the Karabakh region in response to their escalating armed provocations and attacks on Azerbaijani positions.
This decision came after fatalities caused by mine incidents in the Khojavand district, resulting in casualties among Azerbaijani law enforcement and civilian workers.
Azerbaijani troops stationed in the Aghdam district also suffered injuries due to the presence of illegal Armenian armed formations in Azerbaijani territories.
