Azerbaijan joins global Earth Hour 2026 campaign PHOTO
As part of the international “Earth Hour” initiative, Azerbaijan participated in the 2026 edition of the event, organised by the IDEA Public Union, the official national coordinator, in partnership with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).
IDEA told local media that around 80 institutions and organisations across the country turned off the facade lighting of their administrative buildings for one hour, starting at 8:30 p.m. local time. In addition, hundreds of young people in various cities and regions joined the initiative privately, demonstrating solidarity in environmental protection.
IDEA expressed its gratitude to all participating institutions, organisations, and individuals who took part in “Earth Hour 2026” in Azerbaijan.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the global Earth Hour campaign. Azerbaijan has participated since 2011, with the event held annually under the support of IDEA.
“Earth Hour” is the world’s largest grassroots movement for the environment, mobilising millions of people to take action against climate change.
