Azerbaijan outlines lack of int'l reaction to Armenia-committed cultural genocide
An Azerbaijani official has outlined the lack of any international reaction to the cultural genocide that Armenia committed against the country during its decades-long occupation in and out Karabakh.
Executive Director of the Baku International Multiculturalism Centre Ravan Hasanov said this at an event dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Declaration on the Rights of Persons Belonging to National or Ethnic, Religious and Linguistic Minorities on the sidelines of the 77th UN General Assembly session on September 22, Report informs.
"No international organisation has responded to the cultural genocide committed by Armenia against Azerbaijan. Of course, this has a negative impact on stability and peaceful coexistence in the region," he said.
While multiculturalism is an important direction of state policy in Azerbaijan, Hasanov emphasised that over the last 30 years, Armenia has purposefully committed acts of vandalism against our country's cultural heritage, and historical and religious sites have been destroyed on liberated territories, objects, monuments, and temples have been completely destroyed and razed to the ground.
