Baku holds 2nd meeting of ministers of justice of Turkic states Photo
The 2nd Meeting of the Ministers of Justice of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) was held in Baku on November 20, bringing together justice ministers and senior officials from member states to review progress on judicial cooperation and innovative practices in the region.
Prior to the meeting, delegations paid tribute to the memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev at the Alley of Honours and visited the Alley of Martyrs and Victory Park to honour Azerbaijani martyrs, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The meeting was chaired by Azerbaijan’s Minister of Justice Farid Ahmadov and attended by Kazakhstan’s Minister of Justice Yerlan Sarsembayev, Türkiye’s Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Justice Akbar Tashkulov, Kyrgyzstan’s Deputy Minister of Justice Iskender Sydygaliev, and OTS Secretary General Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev.
Participants reviewed progress on the areas outlined in the Astana Declaration, signed in September 2024, and emphasised the importance of strengthening judicial and law enforcement cooperation within the OTS. The meeting also highlighted member states’ work in digital transformation and innovative solutions in the justice sector.
Officials discussed mutual concerns and were briefed on the activities of the Expert Group initiated by Azerbaijan to draft a multilateral Agreement on Legal Assistance in Civil Matters, as well as the Working Group tasked with creating a Centralised Forensic Network.
It was decided that the 3rd Meeting of the Ministers of Justice of OTS member states will be held in Türkiye in 2026.
