Azerbaijani FM invites newly elected OIC Secretary-General to Baku
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has congratulated Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed on his election as Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and invited him to visit Azerbaijan.
As Caliber.Az reports, citing a post by the OIC on X, FM Bayramov conveyed the invitation in a congratulatory letter to the newly elected Secretary-General.
“His Excellency Mr. Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), received a congratulatory letter from His Excellency Mr. Jeyhun Bayramov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, on the occasion of his election as the OIC’s new Secretary-General. The Azerbaijani Foreign Minister extended his sincere congratulations to His Excellency and wished him every success in his duties.
H.E. Minister Bayramov also expressed his confidence that, under the Secretary-General’s distinguished leadership and extensive diplomatic and international experience, the OIC will continue to achieve its noble goals, strengthen unity, solidarity and cooperation among Member States, and address the common challenges facing the Muslim world. He further emphasised Azerbaijan’s appreciation for the fruitful cooperation with the OIC General Secretariat and commended the Organization’s unwavering support for his country’s initiatives and its principled stance on the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Bayramov stressed that Azerbaijan, as an active OIC member state and incoming chair of the Islamic Summit Conference, attaches particular importance to further strengthening the organization, enhancing its effectiveness, and consolidating unity and solidarity among member states.
He reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s readiness to work closely with the Secretary-General to advance shared goals and priorities.
In his congratulatory message, Bayramov also invited the OIC Secretary-General to visit Azerbaijan at the earliest opportunity to exchange views on developing bilateral cooperation and contribute to the successful organization of the upcoming 16th Islamic Summit Conference,” the post by the OIC reads.
