Azerbaijan highlights importance of nuclear safety at IAEA meeting

Azerbaijan has highlighted the importance of nuclear and radiation safety during the September meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors.

Azerbaijan’s Permanent Representative to the IAEA, Ambassador Kamil Khasiyev, addressed the meeting and emphasized the importance of ensuring nuclear and radiation safety.

The Azerbaijani Embassy in Austria said in a post on its official X account that Khasiyev also commended the IAEA’s support in strengthening Azerbaijan’s national capacities in this area.

“In his statement at the IAEA Board of Governors, Amb. Kamil Khasiyev, Resident Representative-designate of Azerbaijan, highlighted the importance of nuclear and radiation safety and commended the Agency’s support in strengthening national capacities in this field,” the embassy said.

Azerbaijan’s official representation at the IAEA is carried out through its Permanent Mission to the international organizations in Vienna.

Khasiyev also serves as Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Austria and Permanent Representative to international organizations in Vienna.
