Uzbekistan highly values its relations with Azerbaijan, says Uzbek Ambassador to Azerbaijan Bakhrom Ashrafkhanov, noting that both countries will implement more joint projects in the future and expand their partnership in trade, investment and transport.

Speaking at an event in Baku marking the 35th anniversary of Uzbekistan’s Independence Day, he noted that partnership between the two countries is a bridge between Central Asia and the Caucasus, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

“Our friendship is a bond that connects generations. Our alliance is an investment in the future,” the ambassador stressed. “For Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan is not simply a strategic partner and ally. Azerbaijan is a brotherly country for us. We share common goals aimed at peace, stability, sustainable development and the well-being of our peoples.”

According to Ashrafkhanov, the two countries are connected by a shared history, linguistic and cultural affinity, spiritual ties, mutual sympathy and respect.

“With full confidence, we can say that Uzbek-Azerbaijani relations are experiencing the most dynamic and substantive period in the history of our diplomatic ties,” he added.

The diplomat further stated that the leaders of the two countries had made 16 reciprocal visits over the past five years. He also highlighted the particular historical significance of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s state visit to Uzbekistan in August 2026.

“One of the important outcomes of the visit was the signing of the Treaty on Eternal Friendship, opening a new stage of strategic alliance between our countries,” the ambassador concluded.
