In a prelude to COP29, Azerbaijan's Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev highlighted the country’s commitment to inclusiveness and cooperation in addressing climate change at an event held at Azerbaijan's permanent representation in the OSCE on the margins of the 31st Economic and Environmental Forum in Prague.

Rafiyev, who is also a Lead Negotiator for COP29, outlined Azerbaijan's strategic preparations for hosting the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change this November, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told Caliber.Az.

He detailed Azerbaijan’s ongoing initiatives, including its 14 key proposals, efforts towards energy transition, and the country's broader climate policy.

At the event, Rafiyev emphasized Azerbaijan’s dedication to fostering a collaborative environment among international partners in the fight against climate change. He assured attendees of the country's proactive engagement with various stakeholders in the COP29 chairmanship.

OSCE participating states' representatives echoed Rafiyev's sentiments, underscoring Azerbaijan’s significant role in enhancing global cooperation, building trust, and advancing collective climate action. They extended their best wishes for Azerbaijan’s leadership during the upcoming conference.

The discussions at the Prague event set the stage for COP29, marking a pivotal moment as nations prepare to address critical climate challenges through cooperative and inclusive measures.
