Israel’s ambassador: COP29 demonstrates Azerbaijan’s leadership in global climate fight
I have been the Ambassador of Israel to Azerbaijan since 2019, and it is a great honour to be present at COP29, one of the most significant moments in Azerbaijan's history, said Israel's Ambassador to Azerbaijan, George Deek.
The ambassador emphasised that COP29 would be one of the key achievements in the global fight against climate change, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
"Azerbaijan was granted the privilege of hosting COP29 less than a year ago. Typically, countries require two years to organise such an event. It is a remarkable achievement for Azerbaijan that, within just one year, it has managed to organise this high-level event, bringing together more than 50,000 delegates from around the world. Azerbaijan is showcasing its skills and seriousness on the global stage," Deek stated.
Deek stressed the importance of global collaboration in tackling climate change, which he described as a universal issue requiring a worldwide response:
"Climate change affects everyone, which is why we must work together. Israel is here because Israel and Azerbaijan are partner countries."
The ambassador also highlighted the innovative technologies being presented in the Israeli pavilion. "We are bringing forward technologies and solutions that address some of the world's most pressing climate challenges. For example, we have companies that specialise in water purification, exporting heat-resistant seeds, and providing innovative solutions for climate-related issues."
COP29 in Azerbaijan has not only become a symbol of the country’s leadership in environmental matters but also demonstrates the deepening partnership between Israel and Azerbaijan in advancing sustainable solutions.
