Global South Think Tanks Alliance established in China
During the plenary session of the second Global South Think Tanks Dialogue, titled "Global South: Equality, Openness, Cooperation," a pivotal decision was made to establish the Global South Think Tanks Alliance.
The event brought together representatives from think tanks of over 100 countries, alongside Chinese universities and research institutions. It aims to foster discussions on key themes of equality, openness and cooperation among the Global South countries, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
The Azerbaijani delegation, led by Tahir Budagov, Deputy Chairman of the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) and Head of the Party's Central Office, played a key role in the discussions.
In his remarks, Budagov emphasized the growing political and economic significance of the Global South, a region that now represents over half of the world’s population and wields substantial economic influence.
Budagov stressed the need for enhanced cooperation, equality, and openness within the Global South to address the shared challenges and opportunities faced by these countries. He highlighted that the creation of the Global South Think Tanks Alliance would be a crucial step in strengthening dialogue and fostering greater collaboration among intellectuals and research institutions from these nations.
"Cooperation among think tanks will first promote efforts to build global security and regional development initiatives. It is also a platform to discuss the problems faced by countries in the Global South and to showcase their strengths so that they can achieve further development." Budagov said.
