Azerbaijani defence chief to attend Independence Day celebrations in Pakistan, marking military victory
An Azerbaijani delegation headed by First Deputy Minister of Defence, Colonel General Karim Valiyev, has travelled to Islamabad at the invitation of Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir.
The sides discussed the current state and prospects for developing cooperation between the defence structures of both countries, Caliber.Az reports, citing Azerbaijan's Defence Ministry.
Colonel Valiyev, who simultaneously serves as the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, arrived in Pakistan on the eve of the country's Independence Day, to be celebrated on August 14. He congratulated Munir and the personnel of the Pakistani army on this occasion and congratulated them on the successes achieved in its Marka-e-Haq operation (Battle of Truth) conducted in May 2025.
Munir was then presented with an honourary medal by order of the Azerbaijani Minister of Defence “For Services in the Field of Military Cooperation.”
Valiyev is scheduled to attend the military parade dedicated to Independence Day and the success of Pakistan against India in Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos under the Operation Marka-e-Haq, which will be held in Islamabad for the first time.
