Uzbek president calls Azerbaijan “strategic bridge” between Central Asia, Europe
Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has described Azerbaijan as a “strategic bridge” connecting Central Asia and Europe.
Speaking at the high-level meeting “Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Europe: Cooperation for Common Development”, Mirziyoyev highlighted the forum as a unique opportunity to showcase Central Asia to the world, discuss regional consolidation and cooperation, and strengthen interregional connectivity, Caliber.Az reports per Uzbek media.
He emphasised the significant potential of both Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, noting that it could be harnessed more effectively to boost development and collaboration.
“Relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan continue to grow actively in the spirit of mutual trust and support,” Mirziyoyev said.
He also praised President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan for his commitment to fostering new regional initiatives and strengthening ties between the South Caucasus and Central Asia.
“On this occasion, I would also like to sincerely congratulate the friendly people of Azerbaijan on their remarkable historical achievement — the recent signing in Washington, facilitated by the United States, of a trilateral Joint Declaration with Armenia,” Mirziyoyev added.
