Azerbaijani election delegation arrives in Kazakhstan to observe snap vote
An Azerbaijani delegation led by Mazahir Panahov, chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC), has arrived in Kazakhstan.
According to Azerbaijan’s CEC, cited by domestic media, the delegation is visiting at the invitation of Nurlan Abdirov, chairman of Kazakhstan’s Central Election Commission. Its main purpose is to participate as international observers in Kazakhstan’s snap parliamentary elections scheduled for August 23.
Members of the Azerbaijani CEC will review preparations for the elections and the work of election commissions ahead of voting day. On election day, they will observe the voting process at polling stations in Astana.
The delegation will also attend a meeting of the Consultative Platform of Central Election Bodies of the member states of the Organisation of Turkic States, which is scheduled to take place in Astana on August 22.
