Kazakhstan sees Azerbaijan as key partner in Middle Corridor
Kazakhstan has reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s importance as a key partner in developing the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), also known as the Middle Corridor, amid efforts to expand bilateral economic and transit cooperation.
Kazakh Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev held talks with Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to the country Alimirzamin Asgarov, during which the sides discussed the current state of bilateral cooperation and prospects for further strengthening the strategic partnership and alliance between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, Caliber.Az reports per state media.
They emphasized that regular high-level contacts and a relationship of trust between the two countries’ leaders provide a solid foundation for the continued development of bilateral ties.
Particular attention was devoted to trade and economic cooperation. The sides noted the positive momentum in bilateral trade and highlighted opportunities to expand non-resource exports, deepen industrial cooperation and increase mutual investment.
Transit and transport cooperation also featured prominently in the talks. Kazakhstan views Azerbaijan as one of its key partners in advancing the TITR, a route linking Central Asia with the South Caucasus and onward to European markets.
The officials also exchanged views on cooperation within international organizations, including the United Nations, the Organization of Turkic States, the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
At the end of the meeting, Asgarov thanked the Kazakh side for the warm reception and reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s readiness to support the further development of bilateral relations based on strategic partnership and alliance.
