Türkiye battles Antalya wildfire as hundreds evacuated

At least 720 people have been evacuated as a forest fire continues to burn in Türkiye’s Antalya province for a second consecutive day, the İhlas News Agency (İHA) reports.

Evacuations have been carried out in four settlements across the Aksu and Kepez districts.

In Aksu, 25 residents from 10 houses were evacuated from Karaoz, while 105 people from 29 houses, along with livestock from 18 enclosures, were evacuated from Yumak. Another 151 residents from 40 houses were evacuated from Yeşilkaraman.

In neighboring Kepez district, 439 residents from 175 houses in Çamlıca were also evacuated.

The blaze, which has spread across a large area in the Karaoz area of Aksu, is being tackled with three firefighting aircraft, nine helicopters and extensive ground resources.

A total of 1,037 personnel, 165 fire engines and 112 pieces of auxiliary equipment have been deployed to contain the fire. Firefighting teams from Konya, Isparta and Burdur are also supporting the operation, alongside municipal and forestry services from the three provinces.
