Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan sign Treaty on Eternal Friendship
Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan have signed a Treaty on Eternal Friendship, marking a new stage in the strategic development of bilateral relations.
Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev made the announcement during a joint press statement with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Tashkent, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Mirziyoyev described Aliyev’s state visit to Uzbekistan as a historic event, stressing that the agreements reached during the visit would further strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
“The state visit of the President of Azerbaijan to Uzbekistan is, without exaggeration, of historic significance,” Mirziyoyev said, adding that the agreements signed during the visit represented “historic events” in bilateral cooperation.
According to the Uzbek president, the Treaty on Eternal Friendship reflects the high level of relations between Tashkent and Baku and their shared determination to further deepen ties.
He noted that cooperation between the two countries extends beyond the central governments to encompass regions, businesses, and parliaments.
“This is not simply a document. It reflects our shared commitment to deepening interaction, expanding opportunities for cooperation, and building a common future,” Mirziyoyev said.
