Azerbaijan, South Korea discuss infrastructure, demining cooperation
South Korea’s National Assembly Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee chair Song Seog-jun met Azerbaijan’s ambassador to South Korea, Ramin Hasanov, on August 18 to discuss bilateral cooperation.
The two discussed Azerbaijan’s geopolitical significance amid armed conflicts in neighbouring Russia, Ukraine and Iran, as well as ways to expand South Korean involvement in infrastructure construction projects in Azerbaijan, The Korea Herald writes.
They also discussed South Korea’s potential role in Azerbaijan’s demining efforts.
Song and Hasanov expressed hopes for greater cultural exchanges between the two countries. Hasanov said about 250 Azerbaijani students are currently studying in South Korea.
Song, a three-term lawmaker from the People Power Party, became committee chair in late July. Since taking the post, he has also met with the ambassadors of Japan and New Zealand to South Korea.
