Sweden’s new ambassador pledges to strengthen ties with Azerbaijan PHOTO
Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov received newly appointed Swedish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Louise Morsing on September 4, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said.
During the meeting, Morsing presented Bayramov with a copy of her credentials. The minister congratulated her on her appointment and wished her success in her diplomatic work.
The sides discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral relations, including political dialogue, trade and economic ties, as well as humanitarian and educational co-operation.
They also stressed the importance of regular political consultations between the two countries’ foreign ministries and continuing mutual visits and high-level contacts.
Bayramov and Morsing exchanged views on regional security. The minister briefed the ambassador on Azerbaijan’s efforts to promote lasting peace and stability in the region and on the process of normalising relations between Baku and Yerevan.
The meeting also covered Azerbaijan-EU co-operation, regional connectivity, energy security and other international issues of mutual interest.
Morsing said at the end of the meeting that she would make every effort to further develop relations between Azerbaijan and Sweden.
