Azerbaijan, UK keen to expand economic ties
Azerbaijan's Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov has met with UK Minister for Trade Policy and Economic Security, Douglas Alexander, and Financial Secretary to the Treasury Spencer Elliot Livermore on the margins of COP29, to discuss the expansion of economic ties between the two countries.
The meeting highlighted the growing strategic economic relationship between Azerbaijan and the UK, Caliber.Az reports citing the Ministry of Economy.
The sides hailed the progress made in bilateral partnership and acknowledged the significant potential for further expansion in a number of areas, including in trade, and investment.
The British officials praised Azerbaijan's contributions to global initiatives, particularly in the field of sustainable development and "green" projects. They emphasized the importance of deepening business and trade relations, and explored opportunities for increased collaboration in these areas.
The discussions also focused on strengthening economic cooperation, exploring new avenues for joint ventures, and enhancing mutual engagement in key sectors, including energy, infrastructure, and climate change mitigation.
