Azerbaijan's border guards seize over 40 kgs of drugs from Iran

Azerbaijani border authorities have thwarted an attempt to smuggle a significant quantity of narcotics into the country from neighbouring Iran.

The incident occurred on August 15 in the “Lankaran” border detachment, Caliber.Az reports via a statement from the State Border Service.

According to the information, operational actions on the territory led to the discovery and seizure of 5,000 “Methadone M-40” tablets and 40.9 kg of narcotics (37.9 kg of marijuana and 3 kg of opium). Investigative and operational measures are ongoing.
