Azerbaijan’s new digital platform to enhance environmental, governance standards

Azerbaijan has launched a unified digital platform for Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards, unveiled at a meeting of the "ESG Standards" subgroup chaired by the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBIA) under the Ministry of Economy.

Ulviyya Akbarova, Partnerships Officer at UN Azerbaijan, introduced the idea of a unified digital platform for ESG, while Boris Janjalia, an international ESG expert from the International Finance Corporation, discussed international best practices in this area, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

"Our main mission is to support sustainable development through collaborative efforts and to provide resources and networking opportunities for stakeholders wishing to implement ESG initiatives," UN representative added.

Representatives from government bodies, local and international private firms, organisations, and other stakeholders attended the event, held at the Baku SME House.

Natig Hasanov, First Deputy Chairman of the KOBIA Board and the head of the ESG subgroup, highlighted that the ESG platform would positively contribute to environmental and sustainable development issues, as well as ecological performance indicators in international ratings.
