Azerbaijani customs officers bust drug trafficking attempt at border with Iran
Azerbaijan's customs authorities have foiled a major drug smuggling attempt at the Iranian border.
Nakhchivan's customs officers have confiscated 101.4 kg of liquid methamphetamine which were hidden inside multiple fuel tanks in a truck trying to enter the Azerbaijani enclave from Iran. As Caliber.Az reports, citing the press department of the State Customs Committee, the vehicle was transiting through Nakhchivan on it's way to its final destination, Türkiye, when it passed through Nakhchivan's "Julfa" customs checkpoint.
The officers proceeded to conduct a personal search of the truck driver after the finding, which led to the additional seizure of 4.771 grams of marijuana.
According to the authorities, an investigation into the incident is currently underway.
