Azerbaijani MP slams world for indifference to plight of Western Azerbaijanis

Chairman of the Western Azerbaijan Community, MP Aziz Alakbarli has blamed the world for remaining tight-lipped regarding the rights of the Western Azerbaijanis.

“Today the whole world speaks about the rights of Armenians who voluntarily left Karabakh, but still continues to remain silent about Western Azerbaijanis,” Aziz Alakbarli said at the conference on "Strengthening civil society in the field of environmental balance and human rights protection", Report informs.

He noted that the Community does not accept the injustice committed against Western Azerbaijanis not only for the last 100 years, but also for the last two centuries. "On the basis of the right of return established in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, the Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees and other important international acts, the Community declares its main goal to create conditions for the return of Azerbaijanis expelled from the territory of Armenia to their native lands and to ensure their individual and collective rights upon return," the MP noted.
