Washington ready to collaborate with Baku and Yerevan in any format for peace Statement by State Department
The US State Department has made it clear that Washington is ready to engage with Baku and Yerevan in any way necessary to drive meaningful progress toward peace.
In a statement responding to a request from the Armenian service of Voice of America, the US government underscored its commitment to supporting a lasting and honourable peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.
"The US State Department supports the efforts of Azerbaijan and Armenia to achieve a sustainable and honourable peace agreement, which is vital for the security and prosperity of the South Caucasus. We are ready to work with both sides in any format that will ensure their progress," the statement reads.
On December 20, 2024, the US Department of State reaffirmed its commitment to advancing peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia, despite the ongoing challenges in the peace process.
During a briefing, Vedant Patel, Deputy Spokesperson for the State Department, addressed questions about the difficulties and progress in resolving tensions between the two nations. In response to inquiries about the US investment in peace efforts and potential frustrations over the lack of significant outcomes, Patel highlighted the administration’s continued dedication.
“We try not to focus on frustrations and just continue doing the work. Secretary Blinken has long said, in many areas, that it’s the many days of just hard work until something comes to fruition. I probably really butchered that quote, so you’ll forgive me. But this continues to be an area of vital importance to this administration and to the Secretary, and we’ll continue to work at it until our last day in office,” Patel said.
