Azerbaijani FM warns regional attacks could deepen divisions
Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister, Jeyhun Bayramov, urged efforts to prevent the spread of conflict across the Middle East during a consultative meeting of foreign ministers in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
He stated that the expansion of the conflict’s geography is dangerous and must be stopped immediately, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
“Continued attacks on states in the region threaten to deepen divisions and undermine long-term stability,” FM added.
Bayramov emphasised that the repercussions extend beyond individual countries, creating broader regional and global threats, including risks to civilians and critical infrastructure. He also called for urgent responses to the ongoing crisis.
Highlighting Azerbaijan’s humanitarian efforts, he noted that the country provided aid to Iran following the escalation, including a shipment sent on March 18 ahead of Nowruz and Ramadan. Azerbaijan also facilitated the delivery of third-country humanitarian assistance to Iran and supported civilian evacuations through its territory.
Bayramov stressed the importance of regional responsibility and leadership in maintaining peace and security, reiterating that adherence to core international law principles—respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, non-use of force, and non-interference in domestic affairs—remains essential for achieving sustainable peace.
